DBT JRF 2022 stands for The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) under the ministry of science & technology, Government of India.   • It is important for candidates to select three different preferences of cities as the Exam centre while filling the application form.
  • IN the beginning, the fellowship will be for 3 years and later will be extended by 2 years based on the candidate’s performance.
  • After the completion of the exam, the exam conducting authority will release two merit lists category – I merit list and category – II merit list.
  • Those who are in the category – I will be shortlisted for the upcoming fellowship program proffered by DBT and those who are selected in the category – II will get the fellowship from the project equivalent to NET/ GATE.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidate’s age should not be more than 28 years as on 22nd March 2022. However, there will be an age relaxation of 5 years to those belonging to the SC/ ST/ differently-abled/ women category. OBC category candidates will get age relaxation of up to 30 years.
  • Candidate must be possessed with any of the following degrees M.Sc./ M.Tech/ M.V.Sc./ Integrated BS-MS/ B.E/ B.Tech in any discipline of Biotechnology/ M.Sc./ M.Tech (Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology/ Life Science/ Bioscience/ Zoology/ Botany/ Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Bio-Physics)
  • Candidate must have scored at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree exam and 55% for SC/ ST/ differently-abled candidates.
  • Candidates who are going to appear for the qualifying examination in the year 2022 may also apply.

DBT JRF 2022 Application Form:

To apply for DBT JRF 2022, go to the official website http://www.bcil.nic.in.

  • First register yourself by providing the basic info such as name, phone number, etc.
  • Soon after the registration, the user ID and password will be generated.
  • Candidates will be able to log in and enter personal and qualification details.
  • Make sure that you enter all the details in the application form correctly otherwise form may lead to cancellation.

Upload the Soft Copies of the Following Documents:

  • A latest passport size photograph
  • Signature
  • Date of Birth Proof
  • Qualifying Marks Certificate
  • Those who are appearing for the qualifying exam in 2022 will upload the scan copy of the form in the qualifying exam certificate filled and signed by HOD/HOI.
  • Category/Caste Certificate (if needed)
  • After uploading the documents submit the application form and make payment of the application form.

Note: Make sure to keep a copy of the application form and fee receipt safely for further use. Application Fee Info:

  • General, EWS, and OBC category will make payment of Rs. 1000/-
  • SC, ST, and Differentially-abled candidates will pay Rs. 250/-
  • Candidates can pay the application fee using a credit card, debit card, or internet banking.

Exam Pattern:

  • The exam will be based in the online mode.
  • Paper will have 2 parts – Part A and Part B.
  • There will be Objective type questions in the paper
  • There will be 100 questions in the paper. (50 questions from each part)
  • Paper will appear in the English language only.
  • The candidate needs to complete the paper in a duration of three hours only.
  • Each question will be for 3 marks.
  • Part – A includes General Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, General aptitude, analytical, quantitative ability, general biotechnology, etc. There will be 50 compulsory questions in this part.
  • Part – B includes Specific areas of Biotechnology. There will be 50 questions in this part too.

DBT JRF Exam Syllabus:

Aptitude will include topics such as Comprehension, finding the odd one out, chemistry, quantitative ability, mathematics, general biotechnology, etc.

Specialized Branches in Biotechnology:

  • Agricultural Biotechnology will cover topics such as Plant Biology, physiology, molecular biology and seed technology, Tissue Culture, Molecular Breeding and Genomics, Transgenic Technologies, and Biotechnology, Abiotic and Biotic Stress Biology, Biodiversity, etc.
  • Animal Biotechnology will include topics such as Animal Physiology and Biochemistry, Immunology, Pathology, Animal Genetics, Animal Parasitology, Histology and Embryology, Animal Virology, Molecular Medicine and Surgery, Molecular Diagnostics, Research Methodologies, etc.
  • Environmental Biotechnology includes topics like Basic Ecological Concepts and Principles, Chemistry of organic and inorganic chemicals polluting Environment, Water Pollution, Treatment of Typical Industrial Effluents, Environmental Pollution, Waste Water Treatment Systems, Management of municipal, biomedical and agricultural solid waste, Environmental Pollution control, etc.

Admit Card:

  • Go to the official website i.e. http://www.bcil.nic.in. to fetch the admit card.
  • Those who submit their application form and application fee will be able to fetch admit card by entering their application ID and password.
  • Make sure to avail of the print of the admit card for further use. It is mandatory to carry the printed copy of the admit card to the exam center and valid ID proof.
  • No candidate is permitted to enter the examination hall without admit card.
  • Keep admit card safely till the admission process gets over.

Result and Selection process:

  • After the exam gets over, the Exam conducting authority will publish answer keys on the official portal.
  • Check the result by entering the User ID (application sequence number) and password.
  • Those who score more than cutoff marks will be further shortlisted for admission.

Selected candidates will send the photocopy of all the documents mentioned below:

  • A Copy of the Hall Ticket
  • Date of Birth Certificate (preferably SSC certificate)
  • Final mark sheet of the qualifying exam
  • Certificate of the qualifying degree
  • For SC/ST/PH candidates, proof for the category (preferably in English)
  • For OBC candidates, certificate (in English)
  • A Cover letter mentioning address for communication, phone/mobile number and email ID
