Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must meet the requirements established by the authorities to be eligible for GATE COAP 2024 registration.

  • The applicant must be a citizen of India.
  • Candidates must be intending to apply for admission to COAP member Institutes and have a current GATE score (2024/ 2023/ 2022).
  • If there are many legitimate scorecards, the candidates must provide the scorecard with the highest rank or score.

Counselling Process:

  • Online registration for GATE COAP is completely free.
  • Since each IIT has a unique counseling process, applicants must submit individual applications.
  • The qualifying requirements for GATE Counseling vary amongst institutions. The GATE Eligibility Criteria must thus be read by the students before the counseling process can begin.

GATE Online Registration:

  • Online registration for GATE counseling is only open to GATE qualified applicants.
  • Candidates who register successfully will get their login details through email or text message. Candidates must log in using the details and confirm the information.
  • Candidates will be able to access all potential IIT admission offers and PSU job offer data after the verification process is complete.

Admission Acceptance Offer:

  • The candidate will have access to all the information on potential admissions and employment/admission offers after he or she has finished the online registration process.
  • Candidates must enter into the candidate portal using legitimate credentials to monitor their status.
  • The “seat allotment” option will reveal information on the allotments per institute.
  • At the end of each round of offers, candidates will be allowed to select one of the available offers. Out of all proposals presented in a round, a candidate may choose no more than one.
  • Candidates must finish the submission procedure by clicking the Submit button after a decision has been made. The submission procedure will be considered incomplete and the candidate will not be considered if they do not access COAP 2024.
  • Candidates who choose to accept and freeze their options must then go to the admissions page of the relevant institution or the PSU job page to finish the rest of the admissions procedure.

Counselling Options:

Accept & Freeze:

  • A candidate chooses this option if they are ready to accept the offers made to them and do not want to be upgraded to higher preferences in subsequent rounds.
  • In the succeeding rounds, candidates who choose this option will not be offered admission.
  • The candidate must click the submit button to verify that his or her choice has been submitted after selecting the “Accept and Freeze” option. The candidate should next go to the admission portal for the relevant academic institute and follow the instructions on the webpage there.

Retain & Wait:

  • Candidates who want to express a partial acceptance of one of the offers should choose this option if they want to be taken into consideration for an upgrade to their higher preferences, if any, in the next round of offers.
  • Candidates that choose this option won’t be taken into account for the other offers in the current round that were turned down.
  • However, the current “Retain and Wait” offer will be withdrawn if a better-preferred offer is made in the following round. An applicant may select “Retain and Wait” just twice for the same offer (same institute and same programme).
  • The applicant will be taken into account for any further higher preferences, if any, in the upcoming round(s) of admission available at the participating academic Institutes.
  • The candidate should hit submit to affirm the filing of the choice after selecting the “Retain and Wait” option.

Reject & Wait:

  • If the applicant is unwilling to accept any of the offers of admission in the current round, they should choose this option.
  • The applicant will be taken into account for any further higher preferences in the upcoming round(s) of admission granted by any academic Institutes taking part. Please be aware that because you declined this offer, it won’t be made again in the upcoming rounds. The candidate should click submit to confirm the submission of the choice after selecting the “Reject and Wait” option.

Important Instructions:

To effectively finish the counseling process, applicants must remember the following guidelines.

  • Candidates must submit individual applications to each IIT institute.
  • At the time of GATE counseling, aspirants must bring all original papers with them for verification.
  • Candidates must regularly visit the official website for all the most recent information once the GATE result is announced.
  • Candidates are recommended to submit applications to all Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) for all the programs—such as M.Tech, ME, M.Sc, etc.—for which they are qualified to enhance their chances of admission.
