IIM Ahmedabad Admission 2022: The IIM Ahmedabad is considered to be the best business management school in India. IIMA management programmes have always been in great demand since its inception in 1961. IIMA emerged as the first management school in the country to be awarded the prestigious EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditation by the EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development) in the year 2018.

IIM Ahmedabad Admission 2022 Application Form

  • Foreign nationals staying in India must take a GMAT and apply through supernumerary quota only.
  • All IIM’s select candidates through the Common Admission Test or CAT
  • The Common admission test or cat is a common aptitude test which is the preliminary screening for all IIMs.
  • The candidate needs to check the eligibility criteria and register himself or herself to generate his or her unique user ID and password.
  • Then the candidate has to enter the necessary details and pay the application fee to complete the application.
  • The candidate needs to click on the submit button to complete the application process.
  • CAT application forms are available on the official website of CAT examinations.
  • The candidate also needs to apply to IIM Bangalore.
  • The IIM Bangalore application form is available at IIM Bangalore’s official website.

Application Fee:

  • The application fee for CAT is Rs.2000 for the general category and Rs.1000 for the special category like SC/ST/PWD etc.
  • The application fee for IIM Ahmedabad is Rs.500
  • The application fee is payable through the IIM A gateway.

Exam Pattern:

  • The CAT exam has three sections.
  • Section 1 Verbal and Reading Comprehension
  • Section 2 Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
  • Quantitative Ability
  • The medium of the test is English and the mode of questions is multiple choice.
  • The time allotted is 2 hours.
  • Selected candidates are called for group discussion, personal interview and a writing ability test by IIM Ahmedabad.
  • The CAT examination is held once per year.

Syllabus:

The syllabus for the CAT examination is

  • Verbal Ability: Verbal Reasoning, Reading comprehension, antonyms and synonyms, syllogisms, analogies, fill in the blanks, sentence correction, idioms, etc.
  • Logical Reasoning: Seating arrangement, blood relations, logical sequence, premise, conclusion, Clocks, calendars, binary logic, assumption, linear and matrix arrangement, etc.
  • Quantitative Ability: Trigonometry, probability, mensuration, time and work, permutation combination, algebra, averages, percentages, Number systems, quadratic and linear equations, geometry, profit & loss, etc.
  • Data Interpretation: Tables, graphs (line, area), charts (column, bar, pie), Interpretation and analysis of data based on text, Venn diagram, etc.
  • The other part of the examination is a group discussion, personal interview and analytical writing tests which have no defined syllabus but are expected to be based on the current socio-political and socio-economic scenario.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with no less than 50 percent marks.
  • Completed chartered accountancy, cost accountancy or company secretary degree
  • The marks criteria are reduced to a minimum of 45 percent for special candidates like SC/ST/PWD etc.

Course fee:

  • The tuition fee is Rs. 16 lacs and 99 thousand.
  • The other charges amount to Rs. 5 lacs and 1 thousand.
  • The total fee for two years is Rs.23 lacs for two years.

Merit List:

  • The CAT exam score is available from the official website of the CAT examination.
  • The selection related news for IIM Bangalore is available from IIM Ahmedabad’s official website.
  • In both cases, candidate needs to login with his or her own unique user id and password.
  • Apart from the academic performance, CAT score, etc., past work experience is also given weightage.
  • The overall CAT score general candidate to be considered for admission in IIMA is
  • This cut-off score is reduced to 75 for NC, OBC and transgender candidates and is further reduced to 70 for SC and PWD candidates.
  • The cutoff score for ST candidates is 60.
  • However, after initial screening, the candidates have to get through subsequent levels to get admitted to IIM Ahmedabad.

Answer Key:

  • The CAT Answer Key along with question papers is usually released in November.
  • The last date for submitting an objection to the answer key is usually in December.

Admit Card:

  • The admit card for CAT can be downloaded from the official website of CAT exams.
  • The candidate has to log in with his stipulated user ID and password.
  • The candidate needs to take a printout of the admit card and carry it along with a photo ID to the examination hall.

Result:

  • The CAT results are usually declared in January in the next year.
  • The academic record, CAT score, the work experience of the candidate, the candidate’s performance in Group discussion, Personal Interview and Analytical Writing Ability are all considered and given different weightage in order to finalize the selection process.
