JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria should know before anything else because then the candidate gets assured that he/she is applying for the right course. Given below are the eligibility criteria to get admission in the JEE Advanced which is commenced to give admissions to the undergraduate engineering programmes at ISM and IIT.   • Candidates belonging to the foreign national can fill appear for the JEE Advanced examination
  • The candidate should be amongst the top 2 lacs including all the categories in JEE Main examination. Get the info about the percentage of the various categories:
  • 27% for OBC-NCL, 50.5% for GEN (from the common rank list), 7.5% for ST and 15% for SC. Along with these categories, a 3% horizontal reservation is provided for PwD candidates. PwD category comprises Dyslexic candidates as well.
  • Age Limit: The candidate should have been born on or after 1 Oct 1991 if belonging to the OBC-NCL category or General Category. Otherwise born after 1 October 1986 if comes into the category to the SC, ST, or PWD category

Number of Attempts That One Can Make:

  • Candidates can appear in the JEE Advanced examination two times and that too in consecutive years.
  • Appearance in Class 10+2 (or equivalent) exam:
  • The candidate those who have appeared in 12th class or equivalent exam for the first time in all the subjects in the year:
  • Candidates who appeared in the Class XII (or equivalent) exam and looking for reappearing for the same (either for improvement or due to failure in one or more subjects), need to re-appear in all the subjects.
  • Those who have appeared for the very first time in class 12th or the equivalent in the examination or earlier cannot apply for appearing in the examination. On the contrary, those who have appeared for class 12th or equivalent exam board results for the academic year declared post June can apply in the JEE Advanced examination.

Early admission at ISM or IITs:

  • Those candidates who have not taken admission or have not accepted the admission by paying the admission fee in any of the IITs or ISM in the earlier times or those whose admission got canceled cannot apply for the examination. However, those who have been admitted for the preparatory course in any of the institutes under IIT can go for the examination
  • An exam is valid for the equivalent of class XII.
  • The final exam of XII system used by the State Board or by the Central Board recognized via the Association of Indian Universities
  • The final examination of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy
  • Senior secondary school exam commenced by NIOS with five subjects
  • Any of the exams in the University of India, or from public school, from the board, or the foreign country equivalent to the XII system by an association of the AIU
  • S.C. vocational examination
  • A Diploma which is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education or AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education of 3 years of the duration period
  • General Certificate Education examination (Sri Lanka London, or Cambridge) at Advanced (A) level
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva or High School Certificate Exam of Cambridge University

Remember Those candidates, who have done with class XII or with the equivalent examination within India or outside from the Board not specified above, need to provide with the certificate from the Association of Indian Universities with the effect that the exam about the exam that they have passed is equal to the Class XII exam. Just in case, if the class XII exam is not a public examination, then the candidate needs to pass one public (Pre-University or Board) examination a bit earlier.
