KAU Admission 2023KAU Admission 2023: With the upcoming year 2023, those who are waiting for KAU Admission 2023 will now have reasons to smile. Vellanikkara, Kerala, an agricultural university provides so many programs in agriculture, horticulture, and forestry. In fact from the year 2011, the university turned into Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU), Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS), and Kerala Agricultural University (KAU).

KAU University has 6 colleges – 3 Agriculture, 1 Agricultural Engineering, 1 Forestry, 1 Co-operation Banking & Management), 6 RARSs, 7 KVKs, 15 Research Stations, and 16 Research and Extension Units for faculties of Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering and Forestry. Plus there is an Academy on Climate Change Adaptation and an Institute of Agricultural Technology offering M.Sc. (Integrated) Climate Change Adaptation and Diploma in Agricultural Sciences respectively which are also functioning in Kerala Agricultural University. The University comprises of five campuses in Vellayani, Padannakad, Vellanikkara, Tavanur, and Pattambi.

Those who are interested to apply for Undergraduate admission in KAU need to fill the application form on the basis of the ranks acquired in the common entrance examination (CEE) commenced by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations, Government of Kerala. Forms for undergraduate programs can be acquired from institutions except for B.Sc (C&B).

Info about Post Graduate Courses:

For Post Graduate courses admissions will be made on the basis of merit attained in the entrance test commenced by the university. For seeking admissions to Ph.D., selections will be made by the committee constituted by the University for conducting written tests and interviews.

Admission for Foreign Candidates:

The foreign candidates may also apply for admission to different programs of the Kerala Agricultural University via Indian Missions in the respective country. They need to apply using the application form along with bio-data and photocopy of qualification certificates sent to the Government of India by the Indian Embassy/Mission in the concerned country. The Govt. of India, ICAR, or EdCIL is responsible for arranging admission via the Indian Council of Agricultural Research/ DARE/ EdCIL.

Important to Remember:

  • Admissions into UG courses begin in the month of February.
  • University follows the reservation policy for ST and SC candidates.

Under Graduate Admissions:

  • B.Sc (Hons.) in Agriculture in three Affiliated colleges
  • B.Sc Co-operation and Banking, B.Sc Forestry and B.Sc Co-operation, Banking and Management to different colleges of the university
  • There will be proviso for B.Tech in Agriculture Engineering and B.Tech in Food Engineering as well.  University also provides Integrated programme like M.Sc in climate change adaptation and M.Sc in Biotechnology. Admissions into all the Under Graduate courses made via CEE (Common Entrance Exam) commenced by the Commissioner of the Entrance exam.

Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility Criteria for Under Graduate programs:

  • B.Sc (Hons.) Agriculture, candidate needs to attain scores in CEE commenced by KEAM (Kerala Engineering Architecture and Medical courses) Those who have successfully completed  Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education with at least 50% marks in Biology separately, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together, may apply.  However, Biotechnology will not be considered for academic eligibility.
  • B.Sc (Hons.) Forestry, Admissions to the course will be provided on the basis of rank attained in CEE conducted by KEAM (Kerala Engineering Architecture and Medical courses) Those who have successfully completed  Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education with at least 50% marks in Biology separately, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together, may apply.  However, Biotechnology will not be considered for academic eligibility.
  • B.Sc (Hons.) Co-operation and Banking. Co-operation Banking and Management and Admissions to these courses will be based on a merit basis. Candidates for seeking admission to B.Sc. (C&B) Hons  programme must have successfully completed Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala or examinations equivalent with at least 50% marks in optional subjects taken together
  • B.Tech Agricultural Engineering and admissions to the course will be based on the rank scored in CEE conducted by KEAM (Kerala Engineering Architecture and Medical courses). Those who have completed Higher Secondary Examination with 50% marks in Mathematics separately, and 50 % marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry may apply for admission.
  • Candidates need to follow online application form process to apply for the above mentioned courses. Visit the official website to apply online. The admission to above-mentioned courses will be via through Common Entrance Exam and selection will be based on merit in the entrance exam. University has a reservation for SC and ST category candidates.

Eligibility Criteria for MBA Admissions:

  • KAU University also offers an MBA program in Agriculture Business Management.
  • MBA   Agriculture Business Management     College of Co-operation, Banking and Management
  • To do MBA in Agriculture Business Management, the candidate should be a graduate with at least 60% marks in aggregate from class X onwards are eligible for seeking admission to this course.

  • A Candidate must be the Professional Graduate from State Agricultural Universities recognized by ICAR with at least 7.00/10 OGPA
  • Candidates will be selected on the basis of scores acquired in KMAT, CAT, CMAT or MAT
  • The candidates who are looking forward to attaining admission in MBA course need to successfully clear any of the tests amongst KMAT, CAT, CMAT, or MAT. These tests are commenced in the months of December or January and KAU invites applications for MBA in Agriculture Business Management after result declaration. Admissions to the course will be made on the basis of the scores attained in KMAT, CAT, CMAT OR MAT.
  • There is also a reservation policy for ST and SC category candidates.

Eligibility criteria for Post graduation Admissions 2023:

  • KAU University also offers M.Sc and M.tech programmes in disciplines such as Agriculture, Forestry Wildlife and Co-operation, Banking and Management. Admission to Postgraduation courses will start in the month of July every year and candidate needs to apply using online mode. The official website will provide with the application form and prospectus to avail admission in PG courses. Get the application form and fill it completely. Make sure to send the hard copy of the application and documents and fee to the Registrar, Kerala Agricultural University, KAU P.O., Thrissur, Kerala – 680 656 before the last date.
  • Candidates will be selected on the basis of merit.
  • For, M.Sc Agriculture (Agronomy), the candidate must be possessed with the Bachelor’s degree in the respective subject/equivalent degree recognised by KAU. B.Sc. (Ag.) and B.Sc. (Hort.) for seeking admission. However, selection will be done on the basis of merit.
  • Admission in M.Sc Agriculture (Soil Science and Agriculture Chemistry) will be possible if candidate must be possessed with the bachelor’s degree in the respective subject/ equivalent degree recognised by KAU. B.Sc. (Ag.) and B.Sc. (Hort.) will be treated as equal for admission purposes. However, selection will be done on the basis of merit.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Tech Admissions 2023:

  • KAU University offers admission to M.Tech Agriculture in Farm Power and Machinery and Agricultural Processing and Food Engineering. The admission to this course starts in the months of June and July every year. University follows reservation to ST and SC category candidates to different courses.
  • Mode of application to the courses will be online mode.
  • To acquire admission to M.Tech Agriculture (Farm Power and Machinery)  , candidate must be possessed with the degree of Graduation in Agricultural Engineering or an equivalent degree recognized by KAU with an OGPA of 6.0/10 (General Category) 5.5/10 (SC/ST Category) for graduates of KAU, under UG regulations 2008. For graduates of KAU under UG regulations up to 2007, the minimum OGPA is 7.3/10 (General Category) and 7.0/10 (SC/ST Category).Selection will be possible via Entrance Exam commenced by the University
  • To attain admission to M.Tech Agricultural processing and Food Engineering, candidate must be possessed with the degree of Graduation in Agricultural Engineering or an equivalent degree recognized by KAU with an OGPA of 6.0/10 (General Category) 5.5/10 (SC/ST Category) for graduates of KAU, under UG regulations 2008. For graduates of KAU under UG regulations up to 2007, the minimum OGPA is 7.3/10 (General Category) and 7.0/10 (SC/ST Category).Selection will be possible via Entrance Exam commenced by the University

  • University provides several Research programmes in many disciplines. Admissions will be made on the basis of overall assessment of the candidate. Admission procedure will begin in the month of June and July every year. The university has several colleges that provides research in Agronomy, Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Entomology, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Plant Pathology, Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Plant Physiology, Home Science(FS&N), Plant Biotechnology, Plantation Crops and Spices, Olericulture, Processing Technology, Agricultural Statistics, Silviculture & Agroforestry, Tree Physiology & Breeding, Wild Life Science, Forest Management & Utilisation, and Wood Science.
  • To acquire admission to Ph.D Agronomy, Agricultural Entomology, Agricultural Extension, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Plant Pathology  Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Plant Physiology, Plant Biotechnology, Plantation Crops and Spices, Olericulture, Processing Technology, candidate must have done post graduation in the respective discipline /related discipline from the faculty concerned of KAU or from some recognised equivalent qualification with an OGPA of 7.0/10.0 (general category) and 6.5/10.0 (SC/ST). A basic degree in Agri./Hort./Ag.Engg./Forestry is also required for all courses.
  • To do Ph.D Rural Marketing Management, candidate must have done post graduation in the respective discipline /related discipline from the faculty concerned of KAU or a recognized equivalent qualification with an OGPA of 7.0/10.0 for general category and 6.5/10.0 for SC/ST or MBA (ABM) with an OGPA of 7.0/10.0 for (general category) and 6.5/10.0 (SC/ST).
  • To avail admission to Ph.D Silviculture & Agroforestry, Tree Physiology & Breeding, Wild Life Science, Forest Management & Utilisation, Wood Science, candidate must have done post graduation in the respective discipline /related discipline from the faculty concerned of KAU or a recognised equivalent qualification with an OGPA (general category) and 6.5/10.0 (SC/ST). Along with this, a basic degree in Agri./Hort./Ag.Engg./Forestry is needed for all courses.
  • For seeking admission to Ph.D Farm Power & Machinery, Soil & Water Engineering,  Agriculture Processing & Food Engineering, candidate must have done post graduation in the respective discipline /related discipline from the faculty concerned of KAU or a recognised equivalent qualification with an OGPA (general category) and 6.5/10.0 (SC/ST).
