NEST 2024: NEST is the National Entrance Screening Test, which is mainly the national entrance test commenced by the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) and the University of Mumbai Department of Atomic Energy Center for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CBS). It is a mandatory test commenced for admission into a five-year M.Sc programme aided by UM-DAE CBS and NISER. This reputed examination commenced in 59 countries all over India. National Entrance Screening Test 2024 Application Form:

To appear in the examination, candidates are required to fill out the NEST 2024 Registration  Form which is possible to do with the online mode available at the official website. As there is no offline mode, go for online mode only to apply for the application form.

Steps To Fill Online Application Form

  • Visit the official site @nestexam.in
  • Click on the New Registration.
  • Fill in all your details and then enter the captcha code.
  • Then you will receive an SMS on the mobile number given with USER ID and Password.
  • Login with your details and then fill in your details, and educational qualifications.
  • Upload your passport image and signature and pay the application fee.
  • After successful payment, you have to read the declaration and select the checkbox to “I agree” and then “Submit.”

Application Fees:

The examination fee will be Rs.1200/– for male aspirants, General and OBC category, and the cost of the application form will be 600/- for female candidates, SC/ST/PD. The mode of payment would be only net banking, credit card, and debit card.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates who have been born on or post 1st -August 1997 can apply for the examination. This date is applicable for only those who belong to the category such as general and OBC candidates.
  • However, there will be age relaxation for candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PD categories.
  • Before applying, make sure to check your educational qualification. Candidates must have done with class 12th or the equivalent exam with the combination of subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology
  • Candidates are required to must have passed class 12th or equivalent exam.
  • Those who are appearing in class 12th or equivalent exam can apply for the exam.
  • Those who are applying for the M.Sc programme, need to have secured at least 60% marks and this is for general & OBC candidates only. However, the marks will be 55% for those who belong to the SC, ST, and PD categories.

Exam Pattern:

  • Mode: The mode of the exam will be Online (CBT) mode.
  • Duration: The duration of the exam will be 3 hours.
  • Type of Questions: There will be objective (MCQ) type questions
  • Total Marks: The paper will of 230 marks.
  • Language: The language of the paper will be English only.
  • Sections: The question paper will consist of 5 sections, each of the sections will be 50 marks but the general section will carry 30 marks.
  • Negative Marking: There will be no negative marking in section 1 and there is negative marking in other sections for answering wrong.

Syllabus:

The syllabus of the Nest examination will be based on the pattern of the CBSE/NCERT science syllabus that the candidate must have attempted in 11th and 12th Classes. The syllabus of the examination comprises subjects such as Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics subjects. There is no fixed syllabus for the general section which comprises questions related to historical milestones in mathematics, biology, astronomy, environment, physics, chemistry, and computer science.

Admit Card:

The admit card has been available from September 2024. The admit card can be downloaded from the official site of NEST. This card will not be provided by post, thus use the online mode to avail the admit card and carry it along during the examination. It is mandatory to have with you during the time of attempting the exam.

Steps to Download Admit Card:

  • Go to the official link.
  • At the Homepage, click on the link to Admit Card.
  • Log in using your User ID and Password.
  • Click on the ‘Login’ button for submitting your login credentials.
  • The NEST Admit card will appear on the screen.
  • Download it and print it for further use.

Answer Key:

NEST Answer Key has been published in October 2024 through online mode. The answer key will be available in two sets – A & B. Students can challenge the answer key if they have any objections related to answers. To access the answer key, candidates have to enter their roll number and date of birth.

Result:

The result of the examination will be available on the official portal and candidates can collect it around October 2024. The merit list will be prepared which is based on the scored marks in the NEST examination. Thus, make sure to use the official website for collecting the outcome of the exam.
