STET 2023: STET stands for Sikkim Teacher’s Eligibility Test which is commenced twice a year by the Sikkim Human Resource Development Department. Those who qualify for the examination successfully will be recruited for teaching in the Government or Private schools of Sikkim. This is an entrance examination consisted of two papers- Paper – I for Primary Teachers Class I –V and Paper – II for Class VI-VIII. Exam related all the details are mentioned below:

STET 2023 Application Form:

Those who are interested to apply for STET 2023 will be required to get the application form from the official website. Fill the application form as per the instructions mentioned in the form. Fill the details, go through them and submit it. Candidates are required to upload a scanned copy of the signature as well as a photograph. Fill in all the personal information such as Name, Father’s Name, Date of Birth, Qualification details, contact number; Address, etc.

Make sure to upload the photograph and signature in the prescribed format

Make a payment of the application fee which is Rs 400/- for all the categories. Make payment via offline mode using e-challan which will be deposited in the favor of Joint Director/Examination, HRDD in any nearest branch of IDBI in the state.

Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification required for Paper – I:

  • Candidate must have successfully completed the senior secondary or equivalent exam with at least 50% marks and 2-year D.El.Ed/2-year Diploma in Education or Special Education/4-year B.El.Ed

Educational Qualification required for Paper-II:

  • The candidate must have done BA/B.Sc with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in B.Ed/ D.EL.Ed.

Important Note: There will be a relaxation of 5% to SC/ST/OBC category candidates, thus the minimum marks required in the senior secondary is 45% instead of 50%.

Sikkim Teacher’s Salary:

The salary of the teacher is dependent on several factors such as eligibility, experience and qualification. Salary also varies from one school to another. If you get a job in a Government school then the salary increment will be according to the pay commission. The average salary of the teachers in Sikkim is approximately Rs 16000/-.

Exam Pattern:

  • The examination will be commenced in the offline mode.
  • The candidate is required to complete the paper in the duration of two and a half hours.
  • The exam will appear in two languages- English and Hindi apart from the sections based on the concerned language subjects for the test.

Exam pattern for Paper I Primary Level:

  • Child Development & Pedagogy will have 30 questions for 30 marks.
  • 1st Language will have 30 questions for 30 marks.
  • 2nd Language will have 30 questions for 30 marks.
  • Mathematics will have 30 questions for 30 marks.
  • Environmental Science will have 30 questions for 30 marks.

Exam pattern for Paper-II Elementary Level:

  • Child Development & Pedagogy will have 30 questions for 30 marks.
  • 1st Language will have 30 questions for 30 marks.
  • 2nd Language will have 30 questions for 30 marks.
  • Mathematics & Science or Social Studies will have 60 questions for 60 marks.
  • There will no proviso of negative marking for incorrect answers and all questions are mandatory to perform. Those who score 60% or more than 60% marks in the examination will receive the certificate.

STET Exam Syllabus:

  • The subject Child Development & Pedagogy will be consisted of questions based on the development of the child (mentally and physically), child education psychology of teaching and learning.
  • The language section comprises of topics related to the medium of instructions and proficiency in the language. Similarly, other sections emphasize the understanding of the concerned topics related to that subject.
  • The EVS syllabus will consist of topics such as air, water, food, shelter, kinds of pollution, environmental problems and other related matters.
  • Mathematics will focus on problem-solving questions. However, questions in Social Studies based on the development in society, Economics, Indian Constitution, history, Geography, Health and Hygiene, Literature, Welfare, Sports, etc.
  • In Paper- II, the candidates will select between Mathematics and Science or Social Studies.

Selection Process:

The certificate given to the candidates is the only eligibility that will give the appointment to the candidates in Government or Private Schools. There will be no selection process as the selection is entirely dependent on personal interviews taken by the schools. A certificate provided is enough to acknowledge that the candidate has cleared STET exam successfully and eligible to work as a teacher in the specific school.

Admit Card:

Collect the admit card from the official website. Download the admit card by using the registration number and password given during the time of filling online application. If any discrepancy is found in the personal details, contact the exam cell for the making required corrections on the allotted date. This is a compulsory document to be carried along on the Exam date. This card comprises details such as Exam center name, Exam Center Address, Roll number, etc.

Cut-Off Marks:

Cut off marks will be released on the official website after the result declaration. The STET cut-off marks are the minimum marks attained to qualify for the exam. You will get category wise cut-off marks

Exam Result:

The merit list will be prepared and provided on the official website. Those who qualify for the exam will be awarded the certificate by the State Council of Examination. Usually, the result will be announced in the month of September. To check the result, fill in the details like application ID, roll number and then click the submit button.
