OSSTET 2023: Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test or OSSTET 2023 is organized by The Board of School Education/BSE on the behalf of the government of Odisha. This entrance test is organized for the candidates who are interested to work as teachers for different government schools in Odisha. The BSE has already announced the examination date for 2023. Candidates can easily acquire the application form both online or offline mode. The initiation of the registration process for the Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test will be from July 2023.

OSSTET 2023 Application Form:

Applicants can do online registration on the official website of the Board Of Secondary Education or BSE. This registration for OSSTET 2023 has been started from 1st July 2023. The candidate must go through all the details regarding the required eligibility for appearing in the examination.

Only after the online registration do candidates have to submit the application fees. If a candidate has registered earlier then there will be no need for further registration they can easily login with their email id password. Candidates need to furnish their details along with education qualification and postal address in the application form along with a passport size photograph. Candidates must take a printed copy of this filled application form for further use. They need not have to send the hard copy to the university.

Candidates have to pay Rs.500 as an application fee for submitting the application form  And the examination fee if Rs.300/- for the ST, SC category of candidates.

Steps to apply for OSSTET 2023 Application Form:

  • Visit the official website of the Board Of Secondary Education, Odisha.
  • On the home page, go to the Careers tab and click “Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test (OSSTET)” guidelines and application procedure.
  • Read the notification carefully. If candidates are eligible then click apply online link.
  • Fill in your details and submit.
  • Take a printout of your application for future use.

Eligibility Criteria:

The basic criteria required for a candidate to seat for OSSTET 2023 is that he/she must be well conversant in Odia language both in reading and writing. Candidates must complete their Higher Secondary Examination from the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, or any other recognized board in Odisha with Odia as aIst/ 2nd or 3rd language subject. Odia needs to be a candidate’s compulsory subject for both the 10th and 12th standards as well. Candidates who wish to be Hindi, Urdu, Telegu and Sanskrit teachers must qualify class 7 Odia exam for OSSTET 2023. There are requirements for two categories in OSSTET:

  • Education Teachers(category I)– For this post, the applicant must have a Bachelor’s Degree with B.Ed.
  • Physical Education Teachers(category II)- Applicants for this post must qualify the 12th standard examination from any recognized academic board in Odisha.

OSSTET Exam Pattern:

For OSSTET 2023 there will be two papers. Paper-I will have Science, TGT Arts, Language/Classical Teachers. Paper-II is for PET teachers.

Paper I

  • TGT Science includes 4 sections with Odia, English, Maths, Physics Chemistry, Child Development, Pedagogy, School Management, and Evaluation for 150 marks.
  • TGT Arts include 4 sections Odia, English, Geography, Economics, History Political Science, English, Child Development, Pedagogy, School Management, and Evaluation for 150 marks.
  • CBZ TGT includes 4 sctionsOdia, English, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Child Development, Pedagogy, School Management, and Evaluation for 150 marks.
  • Classical Teacher Sanskrit includes 4 sections with Odia, English, Sanskrit, Child Development, Pedagogy, School Management and Evaluation for 150 marks
  • For Hindi teachers, it includes 4 sections with Odia, English, Hindi, Child Development, Pedagogy, School Management, and Evaluation for 150 marks.
  • Classical Teacher Telegu includes 4 sections with Odia, English, Telegu, Child Development, Pedagogy, School Management, and Evaluation for 150 marks.
  • Classical Teacher Urdu includes 4 sections with Odia, English Urdu, Child Development, Pedagogy, School Management, and Evaluation for 150 marks.

Paper-II

Paper-II is for Physical Education Teachers which includes 4 sections with Odia, English, C.P Ed. Course contents, Child Development, Pedagogy, School Management, and Evaluation for 150 marks.

OSSTET 2023 Syllabus:

The Syllabus can be downloaded from the official site by the candidates to have a complete view of all the subjects included in the examination.

  • Geography and Economics include Economy(Indian Geography Quiz/Indian Economy Quiz), The physical geography of India, Economic Development, Emerging concerns of Indian, Indian Economy and current challenges, Money and banking, Globe and maps, Resources of India.
  • English includes Comprehension of Poem, Speaking mispronounced words, Unseen Comprehension, Grammar & its uses, Pedagogy.
  • For Classical Teacher-Telugu there will be contributions of famous literates in the development of Telugu language, Unseen poetry passage, Assessment of learning, teaching methods and aids, Grammatical items, Education.
  • For Classical Teacher-Urdu there will be prose, drama, School Management,  Evaluation, Growth and Development, poems, novel/short story, grammar, pedagogy.
  • C.P.Ed and B.P.Ed. Course Physical Education Teacher Syllabus includes Principle and History of Physical Education includes methods of Physical Education, Sports Psychology, Administration, RecreationAnatomy Physiology and Health Education, Child Development, Pedagogy, School Development Plan, factors affecting different developmental aspects, Assessment and Evaluation, Learning, Understanding the learning process, Recent developments in assessment, critical Pedagogy, Approaches to understanding the nature of intelligence, Organising learning, Educational Management, Addressing problems of adolescence, Addressing Classroom diversity and so on.

OSSTET Admit Card:

The OSSTET admit card for OSSTET 2023 will be issued in November 2023 just a month before the exams which will commence from December 2023. The admit cards can only be downloaded from the official website There will be no other choices to gain the admit cards in hard copy format through post or by any offline method. The admit card will only be delivered to the candidates who will positively complete the application form including the fees submission part as well.

Admit cards will be available in the official website bseodisha.nic.in. It helps the candidate to sit for the examination so it is of immense importance to them. Candidates must take it to the examination center as without a valid admit card he/she will not be allowed to give the examination. OSSTET admit card will have a candidate’s name, registration number, Date of Birth, name of the exam center, date of admission test, and the exam time. Candidates also must take any id proof along with them in the examination hall. Aadhar Card/Pan Card/Passport/Ration Card/Driving License/Voter ID etc. A candidate has to carry with his/her admit card.

Answer Key:

The answer key gives all the answers to the questions asked in the examination paper. Immediately after the completion of the examination candidates can have the answer key from the official website. At that time candidates can object to any answers provided in the answer key. The answers will then be cross-checked by the officials to provide an appropriate explanation to the candidates who have raised objections. The final answer key will only be announced after all the objections have been sorted out.

Result and Cut off:

Candidates can check their results via online mode through the official website in February. To know the result the candidate has to log in with his/her registration number and date of birth.

The cut-off marks for the successful candidates will be 60% under the general category and 50% for reserved categories.
