HSEE 2023: IIT Madras conducts HSEE to shortlist aspirants for admission to the integrated Master of Arts (MA) program. The first two years of the IIT Madras MA program are the same. The course branches into two streams after that, though–Integrated MA in Development Studies and Integrated MA in English Studies. The total amount of seats available in the MA course of IIT Madras is 46 (each year). The exam is eminently cutthroat as only 2 percent are selected for admittance to the institute.

HSEE 2023 Application Form:

Aspirants should submit the application form along with fees and relevant documents. If in any other mode, a candidate submits the application form, it can be summarily rejected/canceled. It can be done online you need to register it online and/or offline by sending the post to the below address with DD or Bank Challan.

Important Documents:

  • Scanned photographs and signatures of the candidate.
  • Scanned copy of Class 10 Class Public Examination certificate for Name and proof of date of birth.
  • Scanned copy of the 10+2 Class mark sheet (if already passed 10+2 examination).
  • Scanned copy of the category certificate (SC/ ST/ OBC-NCL-Undertaking).
  • Scanned copy of the PwD/ Dyslexia/ Scribe certificate, if applicable.

Applicants must submit the application fee before the due date to finish the application process. Check the table below to find out how much the request form should be paid.

  • SC/ ST / PwD Category: Rs. 1200.
  • Aspirants of all other categories: Rs. 2400.

Note: Bank charges of Rs 40/- is applicable.

HSEE 2023 Payment Method:

Applicants should ensure that the application fee is paid by Net Banking / Credit Card / Debit Card before the due date. Aspirants can also make the fee payment created during the application phase through Indian Bank Challan.

HSEE 2023 Eligibility:

Aspirants fulfill the qualification of examination that are mentioned below:

  • The examinations are taken under 10 + 2 by the Central or State Board recognized.
  • Intermediate or 2 years PU test under by a recognized Board or University.
  • If you have appeared in National Defence Academy Joint Services Wing’s two-year course.
  • Senior Secondary School Exam with a minimum of five topics by the National Open Schooling Institute.
  • Any school, board exam in India or abroad recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.
  • HSC’s vocational exam.
  • Examination of the General Certificate Education (GCE) at Advanced (A) level (London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka).
  • Cambridge University High School Certificate Examination or International Baccalaureate Diploma from the Geneva International Baccalaureate Bureau.
  • On the other side, applicants from the SC, ST and PwD categories fulfill the eligibility requirements for EXAM if they have secured minimum marks of 55 percent in the qualifying examination.
  • Age Limit: General category applicants who are born on or after October 1, 1994, are qualified to apply for HSEE 2023. Age relaxation of 5 years is provided to SC / ST / PwD applicants.
  • Exam Language: English
  • Exam Duration: The HSEE takes place for 3 hours. The examination consists of two parts with a sectional time limit each. Part I is one hour and a half (150 minutes). Part II is a 30-minute essay writing segment.

Seat Reservation:

Aspirants from reserved categories are admitted under the reservation policy. Here is the percentage of relaxation provided to each category to qualify for admission.

  • Other Backward Classes belonging to Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) – 27%
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) – 15%
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 7.5%
  • Persons with Disabilities (PwD) – 05%

HSEE Syllabus 2023:

  1. Part 1 consists of English (25 percent marks of Part I),
  • Analytical and Quantitative Ability (25 percent marks of Part I)
  • General Studies (four parts; 50 percent marks of Part I).
  1. Part II involves the writing of an essay.

Part I – English and Comprehension skill:

This section tests a candidate’s ability to solve English language questions. The key areas from which questions are to be asked are:

  1. Reading skills: A passage would be provided for comprehension and the aspirant would be asked to answer the questions on its behalf.
  2. Grammar: English grammar including sentence structure and usage, the use of tenses, verb patterns, articles, active and passive constructions.
  3. Vocabulary: This part would try to comprehend their ability to use Vocabulary and their ability to conclude the meaning, structure, and collocation of words.

Analytical and Quantitative Ability:

  • Numbers, Algebra, Highest Common Factor (HCF) and Lowest Common Multiple (LCM), Calendar,
  • Basic Statistics – Average, Ratio and Proportion, Profit and Loss, Percentages, Simple and Compound Interest, Work and time, Discount, Age sums, linear equations, elementary trigonometry.
  • Data interpretation, Analytical reasoning, Logical reasoning, Brainteasers, and Patterns.

General Studies:

  • Indian Economy
  • Indian Society and Culture
  • World Affairs
  • Environment and Ecology

Part II:

Aspirants can get any random topic to write upon, it can relate from General English or Current Affairs. The essay should be descriptive, simple to comprehend, and examples should be included where necessary.

Admit Card:

  1. Visit the official website of the HSEE exam
  2. Click on ‘Admit Card’ link
  3. Enter email ID and password provided at the time of registration
  4. Click on the ‘Login’ button
  5. Download and save the IIT HSEE hall ticket
  6. Take a clear print of the EXAM admit card

  • View and save IIT HSEE result
  • Take the print outs of Result.
