IIT Jammu Admission 2023: IIT Jammu is a new IITs founded in 2016. This reputed institute provides admission to the programmes such as BTech, MTech and Ph.D. programmes in several specializations. IIT Jammu 2023 Admission Details:

Here are the important details about IIT Jammu Admission 2023:

  • The admission process starts on March
  • Admission to BTech starts in September along with JEE Main registrations
  • Admission to BTech is provided based on the scores achieved in JEE Advanced rank followed by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling
  • Admission to the MTech programme is based on the scores attained in GARE.
  • Admission to the Ph.D. programme is based on scores attained in GATE/ CSIR/ UGC NET/ GATE/ DST INSPIRE/ NBHM depending on the specialization offered

BTech Admission:

If you are interested to attain admission in B.Tech programme then your scores in JEE Advanced rank will be followed by JoSAA counselling. To meet the admission in the B.Tech programme, candidates need to check the eligibility criteria of JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

Selection Process:

The selection in the B.Tech programme is dependent on JEE Advanced ranks. The counselling process is managed and regulated by JoSAA. Candidates will be given seats in seven rounds of JoSAA counselling. The seat is allotted to the applicants based on the cut-off marks of college and the applicant’s preference of courses and colleges. The registration process and choice filling starts in June month via online mode

Eligibility Criteria:

B.Tech programme is offered in six specializations and eligibility criteria for admission is mentioned below:

  1. Chemical Engineering
  2. Civil Engineering
  3. Computer Science and Engineering
  4. Electrical Engineering
  5. Materials Science and Engineering
  6. Mechanical Engineering
  • To apply for admission in any of the above-mentioned specializations, the applicant must have attained at least 75% aggregate marks in Class XII (65% for SC, ST and PwD)

Or

  • Applicant must be within the top 20 percentile in Class XII conducted by the respective board

M.Tech. Admission: Candidates must have acquired relevant GATE scores. The candidates are screened based on their CGPI in BE/BTech and GATE scores. Later, the applicants will be shortlisted and will be called for a written test and interview.

Eligibility Criteria and Specialization:

  • Data Science: Candidate must have done BTech/ BE/ MSc in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics
  • Information Security: To apply for Information Security, the applicant must have completed BTech/ BE/ MSc in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics.
  • Communications and Signal Processing: Candidate must have done BE/ BTech in ECE/ EIE/ EEE/ ETC/ EE
  • Tunnel Engineering: Candidate must have done BE/BTech in Civil Engineering with at least 65% aggregate or minimum CGPA of 6.5 on a 10 point scale
  • Thermal & Energy Systems: Applicant must have completed BE/ BTech/ AMIE in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering with at least 65% aggregate or a minimum CGPA of 6.5 on a 10 point scale

Note: Special consideration will be given to the applicants possessed with BTech degree from an IIT with at least CPI/CGPA of 8.0 with the relevant GATE score.

PhD Eligibility:

Candidates who want to take PhD programme must have completed a master’s degree in the relevant stream with an excellent academic record. The applicants will be shortlisted on the basis of their GATE score.

IIT Jammu Admission 2023 Application Process:

Candidates can apply via online mode using the official application portal of the college. But, BTech aspirants need to fill out the application form of JEE Advanced via the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA). Here is the application process:

  1. First, go to the official website of IIT Jammu
  2. Now, choose the desired course and click on the “Apply Online” tab
  3. After this, register as a new user by filling the important information
  4. Log in with the credentials and fill the accurate details in the application form
  5. Submit the application fee along with the application form.

Application Fee:

The Application fee is based on the category. Here are the details:

  • General/ Gen-EWS/ OBC: 300
  • SC/ ST/ PWD: 100

Documents required for Admission:

Here is the list of documents to be submitted with the application form. Ensure submitting the scanned copies of the documents:

  • Coloured photo & signature
  • Birth certificate
  • Passing certificate and qualifying mark sheet
  • Entrance exam scorecard
  • Caste certificate, Category certificate (if applicable)

Scholarships:

Check the list of scholarships for students taken admission in IIT Jammu:

  1. Merit Cum Means (MCM) – This scholarship will be rewarded to the maximum of 25% of undergraduate students of BTech. Check the eligibility conditions to get this scholarship:
    • Parental gross income for the previous financial year should not be above Rs 5 lakh
    • Submit the income proof and Income Certificate should be issued by the Revenue Officer
    • The amount of Merit Cum Means scholarship is Rs 1000 per month with the tuition fee waiver of Rs 1, 00,000 per semester.
  1. Free Messing: All SC/ST students are exempted from paying the tuition fee. The free messing provides a pocket allowance of Rs 250 per month to the eligible SC/ST students. Such students are exempted from paying the hostel room rent, as well. Here are the eligibility conditions:
    • The annual gross parental income is should not be more than Rs 5 lakh to apply for this scholarship.
    • Submit the income proof and Income Certificate should be issued by the Revenue Officer
    • After availing this scholarship, the candidate cannot accept any other scholarship from Government, Semi- Government Govt or private sources
  1. Freeship: Check the eligibility criteria for Freeship scholarship:
    • Merit Criterion: For new entrants (BTech), JEE-AIR or the 1st-semester grade point average (SGPA) is the main criterion for the merit-based scholarship. In the succeeding years, their academic performance, i.e., Cumulative grade point average (CGPA) during the preceding academic year will be the corresponding criterion.
    • Means Criterion: Students whose parent’s annual gross income does not go beyond Rs 5 lakh are eligible to apply for the means-based scholarship.
