Pre-Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities:

This scheme is again from the Government of India with the motive to provide higher education to students having more than 40% disability. You can apply for this scholarship between June and August (extended till October). Here are the eligibility criteria to apply for this scholarship:

As per the scheme, overall 1,000 scholarships are available (500 for diploma and 500 for degree courses). NHFDC Trust Fund Scholarship for Differently-Abled Students:

Started by National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC) with the prime motive to make physically handicapped students self-reliant. Through this scholarship, they can acquire technical or professional courses from recognized institutions and become employed/self-employed. Students can apply in the online mode between December and June (extended till October). Here are the eligibility criteria to apply for this scholarship:

  • Physically challenged students must have completed their degree or post-graduate level technical and professional courses from some recognized institution.
  • Annual Family income should be INR 3 Lakh at least.

Benefits of the scholarship: Candidate will receive Maintenance allowance (INR 2,500-3,000 per month), book/stationery allowance (INR 10,000 annually), aid and appliances (if applicable)

Loan for Professional/Educational/Training Courses to Disabled Persons:

This is one of the renowned education schemes founded by the National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation. It provides loans to handicapped students in education and obtaining higher education in India/abroad. It also gives rewards to deserving candidates. Candidates can apply using online mode.   • Candidate must be at least 40% or more disabled
  • He/she must have pursued Graduation courses/Post graduation courses/ Professional courses, and other courses approved by UGC/Government/AICTE, etc.

Benefits:

  • The candidate will get as much as INR 10.00 lakh for studying in India and INR 20.00 lakh for studying abroad. The rate of interest will be 4% per annum and a rebate of 0.5% on interest to women beneficiaries.
  • Term loan consisted of college/school/hostel/examination/library/lab fees, purchase of books/equipment/instruments/uniforms, caution deposit/ building fund/refundable deposit, travel expenses/passage money for studies abroad, purchase of computers considered necessary for the completion, of the course, cost of a two-wheeler up to INR 50,000, any other expenses needed to complete the course such as study tours, project work, Assistive devices, etc.

Micro Financing Scheme:

This is another appreciable effort of the National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation to provide financial help to the weaker section of the disabled for starting the business or activities generating income. Here are the eligibility criteria to apply for Micro Financing Scheme:
