Nationality:

  1. Applicant must be the citizen of India
  2. Candidate must be either:
    • a citizen of India, or
    • a subject of Nepal, or

    • a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention to settle permanently in India

Age Criteria:

  • Candidate must have completed the age of 21 years as of 1st August of the year in which the exam will take place.

  • Other Backward Class (OBC) – Up to 3 years
  • Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) – Up to 5 years

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidate must have completed graduation from some recognised university

MBBS candidates who have not completed their internship by the time of applying for the UPSC Main Exam will get provisional admission to take the mains, by submitting a copy of the certificate from the concerned University/institution authority that they have passed the requisite final professional medical exam. During the time of the interview, such candidates need to produce a certificate from the University/institution stating that they have completed the requirements (including the completion of internship) for the award of the medical degree.
