JEST 2022 Notification:

  • 1st March 2022: The JEST 2022 Admit Card has been released on 1st March 2022. Click here to download the Admit Card.
  • 1st February 2022: The last date to apply for the JEST 2022 Application Form is 1st February 2022.
  • 20th December 2021: The JEST 2022 Application Form has been released on 15th December 2021.

JEST 2022 Application Form:

  • Those who wish to apply for the examination are required to fill the examination latest by the third week of January 2022.
  • Candidates must possess, some email addresses so that registration can be easier.
  • Fill the application form and upload a scanned photo as well as a signature in jpg format.
  • Pay the application fee along with form submission.
  • After the application form submission task gets over, the candidate will catch the intimidation on the registered email address.

Application Fee Details:

Make a payment of the JEST Application Form fee via debit card/credit card and Net banking. The fee for applicants belonging to General/OBC category applicants is Rs.800/- and SC/ST will pay Rs.400/-

Steps to Apply for JEST 2022:

  • Visit the website of JEST 2022.
  • On the home page, click on the New Candidates Registration link.
  • To register, the candidate has to click on the “Create New Account” link on the Homepage.
  • You will receive an email with your account information after registering with a valid email id.
  • Login to the JEST homepage with your username (your email-id) and password.
  • Fill the form and save it, or, modify an already saved form.
  • Press the “Submit Application” button ONLY when you have inserted and checked all the mandatory entries.
  • Upload jpg files of your Passport size photo and scanned signature.
  • Pay the application fee.
  • After the online submission of the application form and successful e-payment of the application fee, your submission procedure will be considered complete.

JEST 2022 Eligibility Criteria:

Ph.D. Programme:

Physics

  • M.Sc. in Physics (all participating Institutes).

Additionally, some institutes accept B.E. / B.Tech. / M.Sc. / M.E. / M.Tech. in disciplines of Applied Physics and Mathematics, as listed below.

  • M.Sc. in Mathematics / Applied Physics / Applied Mathematics / Optics and Photonics / Instrumentation / Electronics will also be considered at IIA.
  • B.E. or B.Tech. will be considered at IISc, IMSc, ICTS-TIFR, IUCAA, JNCASR, NCRA-TIFR, TIFR-TCIS, RRI, IISER Mohali, IISER Pune, IISER Thiruvananthapuram.
  • M.Sc. in Physics / Electronics / Astronomy / Applied Mathematics will be considered at  IUCAA and NCRA-TIFR.
  • MSc in Physics, Engineering Physics, or Applied Physics will also be considered at IPR.
  • M.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Biophysics, or Biochemistry will be considered at SNBNCBS.
  • B.Tech Eng. Phys. will be considered at TIFR and NCRA-TIFR.
  • M.E./ M.Tech in Applied Physics  will be considered at NISER.
  • M.Sc. in Astronomy/Optics/Photonics/Biophysics also will be considered at RRI.
  • MSc. in Physics, Chemistry, and Bio Physics will be considered at SNBNCBS.

Theoretical Computer Science at IMSc

  • M.Sc./ M.E. / M.Tech. in Computer Science and related disciplines, and should be interested in the mathematical aspects of computer science.

Ph.D. in Neuroscience at NBRC

  • M.Sc (Physics/ Mathematics), B.E/ B.Tech/ M.C.A in Computer Science

Ph D in Computational Biology at IMSc

  • M.Sc./ M.E. / M.Tech. ​/ MCA  ​in any engineering or science discipline, with good mathematical skills and a strong interest in biological problems.

Integrated M.Sc. / M.Tech – Ph.D Programme (Physics)

  • BSc in Physics (Major/Hons), or in Physics and Mathematics (Physics cannot be an allied/subsidiary/minor subject) will be considered at SNBNCBS.
  • B. Sc. (Physics) will be considered at IMSc.
  • B.Sc. (Physics / Mathematics) / B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical / Instrumentation / Engineering Physics / Electronics and Communications / Computer Science and Engineering / Optics and Photonics will be considered in IIA.
  • B.Sc (Physics) or B.E./B. Tech in Engineering Physics, with a minimum of first-class marks, will be considered at NISER.
  • B.Sc. (Physics) will be considered at IISER-Pune, ICTS-TIFR, NCRA-TIFR, and TIFR-TCIS.
  • B. Sc. (Physics / Mathematics) / B.E. / B.Tec. will be considered for Integrated M.Sc – PhD at Bose Institute.
  • B. Sc. (Physics / Mathematics/Computer Science/Electronics) / B.E. / B.Tech. will be considered for Integrated M.Sc – PhD at Bose Institute.

Integrated Ph.D. Programme in Theoretical Computer Science at IMSc

  • B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech./M.C.A. in Computer Science or related disciplines and should be interested in the mathematical aspects of computer science.

Integrated M.Tech – Ph.D. Programme at IIA

  • M.Sc. (Physics / Applied Physics) / Post-B.Sc. (Hons) in Optics and Optoelectronics / Radio Physics and Electronics.

Integrated Ph.D. Programme at IISER Kolkata and IISER. Thiruvananthapuram.

  • B. Sc. (Physics) or B.E. / B. Tech. in any discipline.

M. Sc. Programme at HRI.

  • B. Sc. (Physics) or B.E./B.Tech. degree in any discipline
  • HRI is starting a new M.Sc. programme in Physics from 2017. The Integrated Ph.D. programme in Physics at HRI is discontinued from 2017.

Joint SPPU-IUCAA MSc Physics (Astrophysics) programme

  • B. Sc. (Physics and Mathematics) or B.E. / B. Tech. in any branch of engineering, with a minimum of 55% marks.

JEST 2022 Exam Pattern:

  • The examination will conduct in offline mode (OMR).
  • Question paper of Physics will divide into two different parts with 25 questions each and 7 questions connected to Theoretical Computer Science
  • The question paper of Theoretical Computer Science will have questions of both types – some short answers and some detailed involving problem-solving. The question paper is based on objective-type questions.
  • Candidates will get three hours to finish off the paper

  • Physics comprises of questions from topics like Classical Mechanics, Quantum Mechanics, Mathematical Methods, Electromagnetism, and Optics, Thermodynamics & Statistical Physics and Electronics
  • Theoretical Computer Science, comprises questions from the topics like Combinatorics, Data Structures & Algorithms, Analytical Reasoning and Deduction, Discrete Mathematics, Graph Theory, Principles of Programming.

Topics from Physics & Theoretical Computer Science are discussed below:

  • Physics consisted of Classical Mechanics, Mathematical Methods, Electromagnetism & Optics, Thermodynamics & Statistical Physics, Electronics, and Quantum Mechanism.
  • Theoretical Computer Science: Graph Theory, This section consisted of Discrete Mathematics, Analytical Reasoning & Deduction, Combinatorics, Data Structure & Algorithm, and the Principle of Programming.

Admit Card:

Admit Card will release through the official website. The exam center and various other details are mentioned in the admit card. Use the password and user name needed to download the admit card. Carry your admit card at the examination center along with one identity proof. Admit cards will not be sent by post/email.

Answer Key:

The answer key will be released via online mode. Aspirants can check the answers and can make out scores in the examination. This answer key comprises correct answers to the questions asked in the question paper.

JEST 2022 Result:

The result of the examination will be declared online.  Enter the username and password to catch the result. Scorecard will be released as soon as the results will be announced and valid for a year.

Cut Off:

Cut-off will be available once results are announced. The cut-off marks will be prescribed based on the number of questions, the difficulty level of examination, seat availability, last year’s cut-off trends, and other details.

Admission: After results are announced, contact the participating institutions in which they wish to be admitted. There is no other way of seeking admission by the exam authority. Applicants are required to select the institute along with original documents for the verification process and the JEST scorecard.  During the admission procedure, the following documents are needed in original:
