IAS 2019 Exam Dates, Application Form, Eligibility & Criteria

UPSC IAS 2019The Civil services examination abbreviated as CSE, (Mains)(generally called as UPSC (IAS) Mains, is one of the examinations conducted by the board of the Union Public Service Commission, to select eligible candidates for the posts available under various Groups and categories of Indian service offices. The candidate who passes the preliminary CSE examination held on June 2019 is eligible to appear in the Mains examination. The candidate is required to apply for the Mains examination by filling the Detailed Application Form(DAF) which is available one/two month(s) prior to the set tentative date of the Mains examination(on October 2019). A candidate must exercise caution when filling the form because it involves choosing the two optional subjects for written conventional papers.

IAS 2019 Application Form:

The Detailed of UPSC (IAS) Mains Exam 2019 Application Form is provided at a special link which is active only when the application forms are available at the official UPSC website. A candidate (except female/SC/ST) must be ready with payment options for the application fee of Rs. 200 to be paid by online/offline methods. The candidate is also required to have in readiness the copies of supporting certificates which are self-attested (or attested by gazetted officer) mentioning the date of signature, before applying online at the given link. A candidate must be careful when filling the summary sheet with the personal interests and hobbies as the interview test(in the case of the candidate qualifying for the same) may be based on the information provided in this field. Once the candidate has chosen the optional subjects, there is no way to change it. Before submitting the application form online, a candidate must take the print out of the application form. The candidate must have many copies of the photograph submitted in the online application form. He/she is required to take additional copies to the examination centre.

Before posting the printout of the application form, a candidate must affix an additional photo and a Rs. 200/- worth central recruitment stamp in the allotted space in the form and get it cancelled with the post office seal showing the name of the post office and the date of cancellation. The envelope of the application must bear the superscribe Application for UPSC IAS Exam 2019. It is then posted to the address given below, ten days prior to the last date mentioned in the notification.

UPSC Mains 2019 Notification:

The results of the preliminary exams for the CSE notify the candidates who are eligible to appear for the Mains examination.

UPSC IAS Exam 2019 Exam Pattern:

The exam pattern is conventional essay type questions, with subject papers counted for merit including the four General Studies Papers, and two optional papers and an Essay paper. Additionally, two language papers, Paper A and B are qualifying papers with 300 marks each(do not count for ranking). Other than the language papers, the remaining seven papers including the optional subject papers, are awarded 250 marks each. The maximum marks awarded to the candidate for the personality test is 275. The grand total is 2025.

Eligibility Criteria:

A candidate listed in the preliminary examination result is eligible for applying to the DAF for CSE Mains examination. Sometimes, a candidate who has professional and technical qualifications fit enough to earn the admission into the Mains examination is also eligible. It is decided by the UPSC board.
